At Norwich Glass Company, our people are at the heart of everything we do. In this edition of our Meet the Team series, we’re proud to introduce Lee, one of our company directors. With two decades of glazing experience and a hands-on approach, Lee brings a wealth of expertise and leadership to our business.
About Lee and His Role
Lee is one of the two directors at Norwich Glass, overseeing the day-to-day operations while project managing complex commercial and residential installations. His responsibilities include:
- Coordinating and supporting the team
- Conducting site audits and toolbox talks
- Managing health and safety, including risk assessments and method statements
“No two days look the same,” Lee says – and that’s exactly how he likes it.
Life Outside the Workshop
When he’s not overseeing projects or out on site, Lee enjoys spending time with his family, including his three young daughters and two dogs, who keep him constantly entertained.
He’s also a keen motorbike enthusiast, riding both on and off road, and taking part in motocross and track days whenever he can. Fitness is another big part of his life, with regular trips to the gym and plenty of swimming.
Lee’s Journey with Norwich Glass
Lee joined Norwich Glass in 2017 as a fitter. His dedication and glazing knowledge quickly saw him promoted to supervisor in 2019, and he stepped into the role of director in early 2023.
His career spans 20 years, including roles at national glazing companies and running his own business, giving him a comprehensive understanding of the industry.
What Drew Him to a Director Role
Stepping into a directorship allowed Lee to expand his skills and bring fresh ideas to the company’s future. He’s passionate about shaping Norwich Glass over the next 20 years, guiding growth, and ensuring the team continues to thrive.
What He Enjoys Most About the Job
For Lee, the highlight of his role is variety. Each day brings new challenges, from planning major projects to guiding the team and helping customers realise their glazing visions. He enjoys balancing big-picture strategy with hands-on project involvement.
Overcoming Challenges
Managing such a flexible and multi-faceted role comes with its challenges. Balancing customer needs, team support, and daily responsibilities requires adaptability and strong organisational skills.
Lee navigates this by regularly reassessing priorities and relying on a capable team he can trust and delegate to.
Favourite Moments at Norwich Glass
Over the years, Lee has worked on a wide range of memorable and exciting projects. Two that really stand out are:
- Installing luxury shower enclosures in a French chateau for an Arabian princess
- Fitting a glass balustrade around the Porsche stand at the Goodwood Festival of Speed
He’s recently completed a project overseeing the largest balustrade project Norwich Glass has undertaken to date, another milestone he’s proud to be part of.
